Sitting down for a cup of coffee in Melbourne Zoo, I looked upwards at the ceiling to see if a faint pattering sound was rain. This seagull was the cause of the noise, stamping its feet up and down on the plastic roofing. I’ve seen other gulls do this on the ground, presumably to try and persuade worms to come to the surface; why this particular bird thought that it might work on a roof I really don't know.
