Curly & Spiky

Curly & Spiky

I love the way the Globe Thistle (Echinops sp.) turns from a ball of unfriendly spikes to a pom-pom of colour. Both the structural straightness of the spikes and the flowing petals contrast and clash, something which is emphasised by the shallow range of focus. The way the spikes show a clarity of focus whilst the petals gently move into a blur is something that I really enjoy in this image.
