Born in Nottingham, my childhood years were spent on the Isle of Lewis and my teenage years in Suffolk. Growing up in such different environments helps me appreciate the powerful vibrancy of a city and the complete serenity found in wide, open spaces. Whether clambering up a hill, sailing along a river or simply walking – I am never happier than when out discovering the new and rediscovering the familiar.
Nottingham drew me back to study biology at university. I stayed for a further year to complete a Masters in Biological Photography and Imaging, achieving a Distinction when I graduated in 2009.
Completing another circle, my final project during my MSc was a short book on the natural history of the Isles of Lewis and Harris; some of the photography for this project can be seen in the galleries.
I’m currently living in London with my amazing (and very patient) girlfriend Amy. Having visited London many times, I find myself in the situation of living in a place which is vaguely familiar but still completely unexplored. All of this presents its own challenges, experiences and experiments as a photographer.
The future holds many exciting projects. I hope you enjoy looking around the galleries and please do come back for more.
